Originally from Moldova, Diana Axentii moved to France to pursue her vocal studies at the National Conservatory in Lyon, where she graduated with distinctions.
She is an award-winner of several international competitions: UPMCF in Paris, George Enescu in Bucharest, Montserrat Caballé in Andorra and Queen Elisabeth in Brussels. She is a Lyrical revelation of ADAMI and CARPEAU, Paris. Recently she received the honorary title “Master of Arts” of the Moldavian Republic. She took part in numerous master classes with Gundula Janowitz, Gwyneth Jones, Thomas Quasthoff, Brigitte Fassbaender, Edith Mathis, Grace Bumbry, Régine Crespin, Nicola Beller Carbone, Margaret Honig, Udo Reinemann, etc. She is a former member of the Opera Studio in Lyon, the Atelier Lyrique of the Paris Opera and the Aix-en-Provence Academy and Verbier Festival Academy.
She started her career as a mezzo-soprano and turned later to the soprano repertoire.
The roles she sang as a mezzo-soprano included Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Le pâtre, la bergère, la libellule, la chatte, l’écureuil (L’enfant et les sortilèges) Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), The Kitchen Boy (Rusalka), Bersi (Andrea Chénier), The Cook –Kuharochka (The Nightingale) I.Stravinsky, Adelma (Turandot) F. Busoni, Sélysette (Ariane et Barbe-Bleue), Fenena (Nabucco), Clotilde (Norma)…
As a soprano, she sings Norma (Rouen, Bilbao, Royal Opera House Muscat), Turandot with National Opera and Ballet Theater of Chisinau, Moldova, Cio-cio-San from Madama Butterfly (Rennes), La Contessa from Le Nozze di Figaro (a touring production in France, Switzerland and Bulgaria), Rosalinde from Die Fledermaus (O. Festival in Montpellier), Micaela, Carmen production of Festival Osons l’opera in Saint Nicolas d’Alliermont, the Schoolboy from Godard’s Dante (Münchner Rundfunkorchester in Munich and Versailles conducted by Ulf Schirmer and in the opera house of Saint-Étienne, CD with label Palazzetto Bru Zane), Dorotea from Stiffelio (Monte Carlo, Bilbao), Oenone from Phèdre by Lemoyne (Caen, Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, Reims, Mets and Limoges), Marianne from Der Rosenkavalier (Avignon), La Strega and Marta from Louise Bertin’s Fausto (Théâtre des Champs Elysées, CD with label Palazzetto Bru Zane)
She has sung under the direction of well-known conductors such as: Charles Dutoit, Marc Soustrot, Philippe Jordan, Jiří Bělohlávek, Sylvain Cambreling, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Markus Poschner, Pietro Rizzi, Luciano Acocella, Roberto Abbado, Hervé Niquet, Gaspard Brecourt and many others. She performed in prestigious places like Opèra de Paris (Bastille and Palais Garnier), Bilbao Euskalduna Concert Hall, The Palace of Fine Arts Bozar in Brussels and The Royal Mint Theater in Brussels, The Opera royal de Wallonia, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, the Glyndebourne Opera Festival in England, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, the Boston Symphony Hall, the Metz Arsenal, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, The Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman, the Monte-Carlo Garnier Opera and several French opera houses of Nancy, Bordeaux, Marseille, Dijon, Rouen, Lyon, Besançon, Rennes, Reims, Opèra Comique, Athénée Théâtre Louis Jouvet, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, etc.
